Unless a conservative attitude is maintained biological control can easily become quackery. Some of the work with Trichogramma seems to be tending in this direction. It is pointed out that the control of pests by the use of Trichogramma is a complicated problem, and until this is fully appreciated there is little prospect of sound conclusions being reached as to its practical value.
