Levosimendan is a well established drug used nowadays routinely for the treatment of heart failure both in cardiology [1] as well as in cardiac surgery [2] despite the relatively high costs of administration [3] and the few, one must admit, adverse effects [4]. The review article by Angadi et al. [5] deals with the interesting subject of levosimendan remedy in paediatric heart surgical patients reporting overall good results, although larger studies are considered necessary to confirm the efficacy and safety of the drug in this fragile category of patients. However, the article allows all involved surgeons and physicians to consider the administration of the drug more openly and without reservations, at least in those cases where other pharmaceutical agents cannot bring the solution.
