
Abstract In his article in the last issue of ‘Computer Bulletin’, Clive Jenkins referred to self-styled professional trade unions which were trying to combine the functions of a professional association with those of a trade union. In Mr Jenkins’ view, the result is a peculiar hybrid which is neither one nor the other. To find out more about these professional trade unions, Chris Hudson talked to Dr Maurice Gillibrand, Executive Secretary of the Association of Professional Scientists and Technologists and reports the outcome.
