Abstract Principles of radioimmunoassay are discussed. Methods are outlined for preparing radiolabeled antigenic compounds and characterizing antibodies. The various techniques for separating bound and free antigen are also reviewed. Commercial suppliers of various components needed for radioimmunoassay are listed. Also presented is a selected list of normal values for hormonal and nonhormonal substances from humans.
