The software described in this paper was developed under Unix, but has also been ported to IBM PC computers. As the data format is the same as used by the Unix bibliographic database programs, many bibliographic applications can be ported directly from Unix to PC-DOS. The database is organized as a collection of individual ASCII files. This allows for easy data entry using a custom text editor and passing data to other similar, as well as to completely different systems. Each user can edit his own files separately and still has free access to the whole database for queries
