Onchocercal nodules from 18 Africans were studied. Each nodule contained adult worms of Onchocerca volvulus . Male and female worms were reconstructed from serial paraffin sections, and the morphologic features of the adult worms and microfilariae described. The location and relation of the various parts of the reproductive and digestive tubes were photographed and gametogenesis described. Diagnostic features of adults and microfilariae of O. volvulus are emphasized. The most readily recognized diagnostic feature is the presence of deep transverse cuticular striations.
