A new commercially available reagent for testing for rheumatoid factors was evaluated in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and in controls. It provided less sensitivity than the bentonite flocculation and latex fixation tests, which depend on the use of human immunoglobulin G, but provided excellent correlation with results obtained in the Waaler-Rose reaction, which also utilizes sheep erythrocytes coated with rabbit amboceptor.
