Some female Cayenne ticks, Amblyomma cajennense (F.), engorged on bovines and held at 27°C, >80% RH, and in 12 h light: 12 h dark oviposited undisturbed; others were disturbed daily by removal of eggs. The average preoviposition period was 6.3 days. For undisturbed females, the avg no. eggs/♀ (6009.9) was significantly correlated with the avg weight/♀ (0.639 g) ; the same was true for disturbed females, 6375.9 and 0.681 g, respectively. A newly laid egg averaged 66 μg; an egg weighed after oviposition averaged 56 μg. Average daily oviposition peaked (>530 eggs/day) at days 4–6 after oviposition began. The oviposition period averaged 28.5 days. The average minimum incubation period was 32 days.
