Abstract Chapter 7 analyses the offences of monopolization and abuse of dominance in the decentralized economy. It clarifies how monopolization and abuse of dominance can be defined in decentralized markets and it presents the different types of monopolization and abuse, including the traditional exclusionary and exploitative distinction, but it also introduces the new type of governance abuse. Governance abuse emerges due to the key role governance plays in the production of decentralized products and services. The chapter then deep-dives into the most common forms of monopolization and abuse, namely refusal to deal and discrimination. For each form, it analyses in detail the relevant conditions and factors and how they apply in the decentralized markets.
