I was interested to see in Dr Gething's letter, on the problems scientists face in acquiring the information they need, his criticism of the poor standard of reproduction of many reports, particularly mathematical work produced by the traditional typewriter and stencil. It is time this feeling was voiced openly?scientists have long endured a level of quality in such material they would not accept to-day in buildings, equipment and ancillary staff. The picture is not all black, however, and several workers at least are concerning themselves with the vastly expanding field of what is known as 'information printing '.
