KEITH Seele had a special interest in the Amarna period. He devoted much attention to chapters 14 and 15 in the second edition of G. Steindorff and Keith C. Seele, When Egypt Ruled the East, which he revised in 1957, and he threaded a careful path in the article, "King Ay and the Close of the Amarna Age," in JNES 14 (1955): 168-80. The present article would have benefited from his advice. I am happy to pay him tribute here.
