R ,W E HAVE PRESENTED in an earlier publicationl the "Epistle (Showing) that the (Four) Elements and the Outermost Body are Spherical in Form" by the important ninth-century Arabic philosopherscientist Ya'quib ibn Ishaq al-Kindi (c. 805-873).2 Here we shall be dealing with a companion piece to that epistle, a short epistolary treatise which al-Kindi devoted to establishing the preliminary point that the universe is finite.
