Abstract

(1) The effect of an increase of temperature upon recombination in the third chromosome is found to be concentrated between scarlet and pink (the area of spindle fiber attachment) and spreading with high decrement to the adjacent regions. These results are in agreement with those reported by Muller for x-rays and by Bridges for age. (2) Quantitatively contradictory data reported by Kirssanow may possibly be due to insufficient attention to the time element involved in x-ray and temperature effects.
