Estimating Regional Input–Output Tables from Available Data

Abstract

A variety of approaches have been developed in order to estimate regional input–output tables; however, due to the dearth of data most of them are only concerned with intermediate transactions, imports and exports, which results in some elements in final demand and primary input being unfulfilled. Therefore this paper focuses on the estimation of such components as demands from household and government, and primary input from labour by specifying the relationships between them and the available but limited data. An example of how to construct the regional input–output table for Yorkshire and Humberside, UK, is considered in the paper.
