Abstract The “Europa Paradigm” defines the essence of European existence in the contemporary world, providing a definition mainly of European society, economy, and culture. The Paradigm includes the concept of uninterrupted growth and development, as a basic element of Europeanness. For this reason the paradigm of Europe and the paradigm of an evolutionary system become identical in practice. Europe's role in the world is strongly determined by the challenge posed by the concept of ongoing growth: a challenge that Europe itself could not meet but one that this continent has foisted on to the rest of the world.
