Abstract Extract The pig is a difficult animal to anaesthetize under practice conditions. The introduction in the last 5–6 years of several potent, effective drugs has made porcine anaesthesia more practicable. Although the ideal agent has yet to be found, many of the newer agents provide relatively simple, safe and effective chemical restraint of the pig.
