Some guideposts along the road leading to a happier symbiosis of clinician and statistician are presented in this article. These include points to be considered in the planning of a clinical trial if its outcome is to have statistical (and so scientific) validity and the need for control of all possible aberrant variables to make observed differences referable to the factors tested.
