Abstract This chapter provides a brief introduction and review of the types of environmental management tools that are in common use within the nature, adventure and ecotourism sector. Some of these are also broadly relevant across the entire tourism industry, others only for particular activities or places. Energy supply and conservation, water supply and conservation, materials and recycling, sewage and human wastes, washing and cleaning, atmospheric emissions, noise and disturbance, disturbance to wildlife, and codes of practice, are addressed.
