Smoking causes one-third of all cancers and accounts for around 6600 cancer-related deaths in Australia each year. This article describes the draft Tobacco Action Plan 2001–2004, produced by the NSW Department of Health, which aims to improve people’s health by eliminating or reducing their exposure to tobacco.
