The effect of phosphonate on the sporulation of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense

Abstract

Potassium phosphonate (0.3 mM) inhibited the production of microconidia by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense (Foc) in vitro. Sporulation of another isolate of Foc, and two isolates of F. oxysporum f.sp. dianthi was less sensitive to phosphonate. The fungicide did not reduce the viability of spores of Foc produced in its presence and inhibited the germination of microconidia of Foc only at high concentrations (ED50 30 mM).
