The possibility of creating a method for acoustic control of the density of blanks made of thermally expanded graphite (TEG) is considered. The method is characterized by high sensitivity and locality of control thus a allowing you to estimate the change in density over the area of a TEG blank. The results of evaluating the sensitivity of the amplitude-shadow and temporal shadow acoustic methods are presented; the measurement results show the independence of the sensitivity of the ultrasonic wave velocity of blank thickness, as opposed to the sensitivity of the loss coefficient. The unevenness of the density of mat blanks of different thicknesses and densities is investigated as an example; herewith, for a mat with a thickness of 10 mm, the difference in thickness is 7.5 kg/m3.
