Design and development of a BWB aircraft

Abstract

This work involves designing a blended wing body aircraft from the ground up, right from the creating a conceptualized design, to building a working model of the same. Taking inspiration from the Northrop Grumann B-2 stealth bomber, and by means of using software such as OpenVSP and Fusion 360 for designing the profile, while conducting CFD analysis at various different speeds and Mach numbers to determine the most favorable airfoil section. A finalized design was obtained, after which the entire aircraft profile was analysed using Xflr5 tool. Low and high fidelity testing was done after which the model was fabricated and flight tests were conducted.
