This paper presents the analysis (mathematical modeling) for the reduction of flexural wave (structure‐borne) noise that is generated by a line force on a steel plate. The steel plate is covered with a baffle (elastomer layer) to reduce the flexural wave noise. The main objective is to evaluate the performance of a velocity sensor located at the outer surface of the baffle layer. Toward this objective, the transmissibility of the plate displacement (velocity) through the baffle structure has been evaluated.
