On burst classification using peak rate ratios
We examine the variability parameter V introduced by Lamb, Graziani, and Smith, to classify gamma‐ray bursts. The correlation becomes V and burst duration is found to be an artifact of the mathematical relation between these parameters, and not an indication of burst morphological classes.
