On the enumeration of the end-to-end distance distribution in lattice polymers

Abstract

A simple matrix method is given that generates the probability distribution for the coordinates of the end of a polymer chain (modeled as a random walk on a regular lattice with a finite range of intrachain correlation). From this information the exact end-to-end distance distribution can be constructed. The method can be applied to specific sequence copolymers and to the distance distribution for arbitrary points within a polymer chain.
