Abstract

The problem of steady state electrostatic acceleration of multiampere ion beams with energies up to 1 MeV is considered. Beam transport with small aberration is achieved when the cross section is changed from round to rectangular. A multi‐aperture negative ion source of the SPS type is described. (AIP)
