Coherent X-Ray Diffractive Imaging

Abstract

Coherent X‐ray Diffractive Imaging (CXDI) is a new imaging technique based on the phase retrieval of the coherently scattered wavefield from a finite object in the far field. The most effective approach for the phase retrieval in these conditions is the use of the iterative phase retrieval algorithms well developed in the optics community. As soon as no lenses used in this imaging approach this method has the potential to produce diffraction limited images with the shortest x‐ray wavelengths. This can be especially attractive for imaging at the present 3rd generation hard x‐ray synchrotron sources and emerging X‐ray Free‐Electron Lasers (FEL). In my presentation I will show few examples of this approach for three dimensional imaging of nano‐systems at synchrotrons and biological samples at FEL’s.
