The shock response of commercial TiB2 was studied by plate impact experiments. Impact velocities were 100 to 700 m/s caused shock stresses up to 15 GPa at the targets. Manganin gauges and soft recovery technique were applied for diagnostics. The mean sound speeds are 11.47 and 11.6 mm/µs and the measured HEL's are 7.1 to 7.9 GPa. Spall strength is zero above the HEL. Successful recovery experiments using "self momentum trap" technique were conducted with confined 0.5 inch thick samples sturck by star shaped flyer plates at approximately 100 m/s.

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 4 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 10% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
