The authors propose a novel method for significantly reducing antenna measurement time and increasing the efficiency of collecting the data which most is relevant information. They apply methods from compressed sensing which reduce redundancy in the antenna measurement, i.e. a metasurface is added to the antenna near‐field, and the unit cell is manipulated by a FPGA to facilitate sparse sampling. In comparison with the traditional sparse sampling method, experimental results demonstrate that their strategy can reduce the measuring time by at least 56% while satisfying measurement error and that it has considerable potential for antenna measurement.
