Decametric Pulse Radioemission from PSR 0809, PSR 1133, and PSR 1919

Abstract

RECEPTION of decametric radiation from pulsars is extremely hindered by deterioration of the signal-to-noise ratio in this band caused by a decrease in the pulsar's bandwidth and the high values of the background temperature. Nevertheless, the existing observational results at 38 MHz (ref. 1) and 40 MHz (ref. 2), as well as our own provisional measurements at 25 MHz (ref. 3), show the possibility of receiving pulsed signals from some pulsars. The present observations were carried out on the N-S arm of the new T-shaped radio telescope of the Ukr. IRE (ref. 4). The antenna array has the dimensions 54 m and 1,800 m along the E-W and N-S directions, respectively and consists of 1,440 broadband (10 to 25 MHz) dipoles. The linear polarization is E-W. The effective area for the zenith direction is about 105 m2. Electrical beam steering within ± 90° × ± 56° from the zenith is achieved by phasing all the dipoles and provides continuous source tracking.
