MARKED changes occur in the ionosphere during the year. In most studies statistical methods have been used because of the superimposed day to day fluctuation usually dividing the year into summer, winter and equinoctial periods. This type of examination, however, tends to mask the fundamental changes particularly at the equinoxes.
