Artificial Diet for the Adult Froghopper
THE adult froghopper, Aeneolamia varia saccharina (Distant), has been reared in the insectary on pieces of sugar cane leaf1, but the use of an artificial diet for the culture of this insect has not been reported. During investigations of the site of feeding and nutrition of A. varia saccharina a chemically defined diet (Table 1) was developed, and on this the insect could be successfully reared.
