THE emission of gravitational waves from a finite isolated axially symmetrical material system in otherwise empty space has been investigated by consideration of the metric : Einstein vacuum field equations have been solved by an expansion in negative powers of r which represents radial distance in a well-defined sense. In this expansion it has been assumed that only outgoing waves are present. The expression : represents mass in the static case, and forms a suitable generalization of this static concept to the dynamical case.

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 229 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 1% | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 0.1% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% |
