Abstract

A REPLY TO THE CRITICISM OF MR. DUNCAN IN a criticism of Prof. Dana's work on Corals and Coral Islands, printed in a recent number of NATURE (vol. vii. p. 119), Mr. Duncan has seen fit to mention my name and certain of my views adopted by Dana in a somewhat discourteous manner. I therefore beg leave to reply, as briefly as possible, to some of his strictures, which are both erroneous and unjust.
