The need of increasing the number of observations for azimuth as one approaches higher latitudes is discussed and frequent reference is made to differences of opinion existing between two members of the Geographical Service of Norway in regard to the value of Laplace azimuths in the adjustment of triangulation observed in the Far North. A tabulation of the ratio of work required at any latitude, relative to that at 45° latitude, is given for both azimuth and longitude observations in order to secure comparable accuracy.
