Pneumococcal pneumonia

Abstract

Pneumokokken sind die wichtigsten Erreger der bakteriellen Pneumonien mit weiterhin hoher Morbidität und Mortalität. Die wichtigsten Charakteristika der Pneumokokken-Pneumonie sind Fieber, Schüttelfrost, produktiver Husten und ein radiologisch nachgewiesenes Infiltrat. Penicilline sind weiterhin die erste Wahl bei Pneumokokkeninfektionen. Mit der HIV-Epidemie und dem weltweiten Auftreten von resistenten Pneumokokken werden besonders die invasiven Infektionen zu einem zunehmenden therapeutischen Problem.
