Subatmospheric Vapor Pressure Curves for Propionic Acid, Butyric Acid, Isobutyric Acid, Valeric Acid, Isovaleric Acid, Hexanoic Acid, and Heptanoic Acid

Abstract

Vapor pressure data were measured for the following carboxylic acids: propionic, butyric, isobutyric, valeric, isovaleric, hexanoic, and heptanoic acids. The pressure ranged between ∼5 kPa and atmospheric pressure (at sea level), and the corresponding temperatures were between 85 and 180 °C, depending on the acid being measured. The data were regressed using both the Antoine and Wagner equations, and the parameters obtained for each equation are presented. The experimental data were also compared to literature data, and the results are discussed.
