To examine neuroticism as a possible determinant of depression in alcoholics.24 euthymic depressed alcoholics and 18 never-depressed alcoholic controls completed the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire.Euthymic depressed alcoholics had significantly higher neuroticism scores than alcoholic controls.No women alcoholics were studied.Neuroticism may be a risk factor for depression in alcoholics.
