58 women who complained of irritability (58) depression (58) fatigue (48) mild paranoid ideation (29) or poor concentration or sleep disturbance (20) while using oral contraceptives were selected for a trial of pyridoxine. They were taking Ortho-Novum 180 Ovulen 21 or Ovral and no tranquilizers or depressants for 2 to 37 months. Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) at a dose of 50 mg daily resolved symptoms completely in 18 patients considerably improved 26 and had no effect on 14. Improvement if it occurred was usually observed in hours or by the next day.
