One might think that looking at the EEG after a seizure is like looking for a train after it has left the station. But there is more to the postictal EEG than just tracingwhere the seizure began. The aftermath of a seizure leaves a trail of altered brain function that must have biological significance worthy of inquiry. Nevertheless, the literature on postictal EEG changes is sparse, and opinions and observations predominate over testable hypotheses.
