
Abstract Attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR ATR) and Fourier transform Raman spectra of l -arginine tetrafluoroborate ( l -Arg.HBF 4 ) and l -arginine perchlorate ( l -Arg.HClO 4 ) crystals are reported and discussed. The FT-IR ATR spectrum of l -Arg.HClO 4 is in agreement with previously published FT-IR KBr pellet spectrum, while previously published IR spectrum of l -Arg.HBF 4 is in disagreement with reported spectrum. Possible explanation of this contradiction is proposed.
