In their recent article, Bayne et al. [1] argue for a novel multidimensional model of global states of consciousness. While we certainly welcome and agree with their multidimensional approach, we think that the authors unduly disregard a very important aspect that ought to be a fundamental part of any such framework: the multiple dimensions of degrees of consciousness. Here we clarify what degrees of consciousness are, object the authors’ reasons for disregarding them, and offer a multidimensional model of degraded conscious contents that is in line with the spirit of and thus could naturally amend the target article's proposal.
