Abstract

ResumoObjetivosAvaliar estresse emocional em casais inférteis em seguimento ambulatorial para processo de fertilização assistida e comparar a carga de fator estressante entre homens e mulheres.Material e métodosEstudo transversal, descritivo, que envolveu 31 casais inférteis (n=62). Todos os participantes que aceitaram participar do estudo foram avaliados individualmente por meio do Inventário de Problemas de Fertilidade (IPF). Para análise foram usados testes não paramétricos com nível de significância p≤0,05.ResultadosA idade das mulheres variou entre 18 e 39 anos (média: 29,67) e dos homens entre 18 e 49 anos (média: 28,45). O tempo médio dos casais na tentativa de engravidar foi superior a quatro anos. Os escores médios do IPF foram: problemas sociais: 43,09 para as mulheres e 41,09 para os homens; problemas conjugais: 36,96 para mulheres e 36,77 para homens; necessidade de maternidade/paternidade: 29,16 para mulheres e 27,87 para homens; rejeição a um estilo de vida sem filhos: 47,32 para mulheres e 45,48 para homens; estresse global: 156,90 para mulheres e 151,77 para homens.ConclusõesNão houve diferença significativa nos escores do IPF entre os homens e as mulheres avaliadas e as medidas de estresse global revelaram moderada associação entre estresse e infertilidadeAbstractObjectivesTo assess emotional stress in infertile outpatient couples candidates for Assisted Fertilization, and compare the stress factor load between men and women.Material and methodsTransversal, descriptive study involving 31 infertile couples (n=62). All participants that accepted taking part in the study were assessed individually with the Fertility Problems Inventory (FPI). Non parametric tests with a significance level p<0.05 were employed as analysis tools. Mann Whiteney statistical test was used to analyse data with p≤0.05.ResultsWomen's ages ranged from 18 to 39 years (mean: 29.67) and men's from 18 to 49 years (mean: 28.45). Couples had been trying to conceive for more than four years. FPI mean scores were–social problems: 43.09 for women and 41.09 for men; conjugal problems: 36.96 for women and 36.77 for men; motherhood/fatherhood need: 29.16 for women and 27.87 for men; rejection to a way of life without children: 47.32 for women and 45.48 for men; global stress: 159.90 for women and 151.77 for men.ConclusionsThere were no significant differences on FPI scores between men and women on this study and global stress scores showed a moderate association between stress and infertility.
