Keratocystic Odontogenic Tumor: A Case Report

Abstract

Keratocystic odontogenic tumor, is an aggressive, destructive benign odontogenic neoplasm with a high recurrence incidence. While known as odontogenic keratocyst, because of having similar histopathologic characteristics with benign tumors, the parakeratotic type of this lesion was reclassified as a benign neoplasm by the World Health Organisation in 2005. A 37-year-old male patient attended our clinic with the chief complaint of swelling at the right mandibular molar region. Radiographic examination revealed a scalloped bordered radiolucency with well-defined, corticated borders. The result of the histopathological examination was reported as keratocystic odontogenic tumor
