Abstract

Abstract A detailed knowledge of the gallbladder and bile ducts (together with their anatomical variations) and related blood supply are essential in the safe performance of both open and laparoscopic cholecystectomy as well as the interpretation of radiological and ultrasound images of these structures. These topics are described and illustrated.
