Abstract

Riassunto Obiettivi Valutare l’effetto dell’espansione palatale rapida sulle resistenze aeree nasali in pazienti con contrazione trasversale del mascellare superiore attraverso la rinomanometria. Materiali e metodi Un gruppo di 20 pazienti (12 femmine e 8 maschi) di eta compresa tra 7 e 11 anni con crossbite mono o bilaterale o contrazione trasversale del mascellare senza crossbite, sono stati sottoposti a esame rinomanometrico prima (T0) e dopo 9 mesi dall’espansione palatale rapida (T1). Il flusso e la resistenza nasale totali sono state misurate in ispirazione ed espirazione. Risultati E stata rilevata una riduzione statisticamente significativa dei valori di resistenze aeree totali inspiratorie ed espiratorie dopo l’espansione palatale rapida, a T1 (P Conclusioni L’espansione mascellare rapida determina una riduzione delle resistenze aeree nasali totali misurate attraverso la rinomanometria.
