espanolEl cancer es una de las principales causas de morbimortalidad en el mundo. Por este motivo, la investigacion en esta area es continua, con el objetivo de desarrollar nuevas terapias que mejoren la supervivencia y la calidad de vida de los pacientes. La identificacion de alteraciones moleculares en cada tipo de tumor permite identificar factores pronosticos y predictivos de respuesta a tratamientos especificos. De esta forma, existen algunos marcadores moleculares que se utilizan en la practica asistencial (como la determinacion del estado mutacional de RAS y BRAF en el cancer colorrectal, HER-2 en el cancer gastrico o la inestabilidad de microsatelites en todos ellos), asi como otros que aun se encuentran en desarrollo. EnglishCancer is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in the world. For this reason, research in this area is ongoing and aims to develop new therapies that improve survival and patients’ quality of life. The identification of molecular alterations in each type of tumor allows for identifying prognostic and predictive factors of response to specific treatments. Along these lines, there are molecular markers that are used in healthcare practice (such as the determination of the mutational state of RAS and BRAF in colorectal cancer, HER2 in gastric cancer, or microsatellite instability in all), as well as others that are still being developed.
