Marcadores moleculares en los tumores digestivos. Implicaciones terapéuticas

Abstract

EnglishCancer is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in the world. For this reason, research in this area is ongoing and aims to develop new therapies that improve survival and patients’ quality of life. The identification of molecular alterations in each type of tumor allows for identifying prognostic and predictive factors of response to specific treatments. Along these lines, there are molecular markers that are used in healthcare practice (such as the determination of the mutational state of RAS and BRAF in colorectal cancer, HER2 in gastric cancer, or microsatellite instability in all), as well as others that are still being developed.
