Non-invasive mechanical ventilation (NIMV) refers to the administration of ventilatory support without using orotracheal tube. Because its indications are growing its use has become widespread, improving its adaptation to the different pathologies causing acute (hypoxemic and hypercapnic) and chronic respiratory failure.
