In conclusion, our results clearly demonstrated the impact of mare parity on placental and newborn characteristics. Regardless of the similar microcotyledonary density observed among groups, mares with more pregnancies probably increased uterine size, which enables greater fetomaternal contact, better nutrient supply, and consequently heavier foals and placenta.
