The authors propose an approach for analytic investigation of the behavior of systems with impact. The classical variables such as point coordinate and its velocity are taken as the phase variables. It is established that the solutions corresponding to arbitrary close initial data can have different number of impacts for the time interval equal to the period of the system under consideration. It is shown that this fact involves the presence of ``Smale's horseshoe''.

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 7 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 10% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
